Shepherd's Bush Housing Group

Building Content and Document Management Systems

Shepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) combines three distinct subsidiaries spread over multiple offices to address a range of housing needs throughout West London. With over 200 employees, and multiple offices, SBHG provides services and solutions at the
leading edge of the housing sector.

Business Situation

Communicating across subsidiaries at SBHG was proving to be a real problem. This situation was not helped by the existence of unreliable, out-of-date content that continued to circulate within the organisation. The potential for a breakdown in communications was high, and SBHG was running the risk of encountering major service errors as a result. They needed a document management system that would bridge the distance between each of their subsidiaries. SBHG also wanted to these subsidiaries represented together on one website.

Our Solution

Content and Code delivered a unique solution comprising of both SharePoint Portal Server and Content Management Server. Online collaboration is now supported across the organisation, with the interests of each subsidiary easily accessed through the intranet.

Content and Code's 1Connector component enabled users to publish documents stored in SharePoint directly to the Intranet. Publishing content is decentralised so staff from across SBHG can easily add useful new and policy content. The SBHG intranet is now a rich source of news, policy, and employee information.

SBHG chose Content and Code's affordable outsourcing solution to host their intranet and are benefiting from reduced technical infrastructure, maintenance and support.

This project represented one of the first successful installations of Microsoft Content Management Server with Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server in the UK and is now a successful solution for many large organisations. As in its housing solutions offering, this approach proves SBHG to be a true pioneer.
