Servite Houses

Outsourced System provides Servite Houses with all their requirements: Cost effective, Easy to Access and Update

Over recent years Servite Houses has grown to offer nearly 10,000 homes across the UK. One key to its success has been Servite's ability to embrace change. When it came to their somewhat informal information infrastructure, Servite knew that only through modernisation could they hope to keep pace with evolving work patterns and the current challenges facing the housing sector overall. Servite turned to Content and Code to build a dynamic, flexible, accessible and easy to use and manage intranet that would link offices across the country and empower staff with information and communication tools. Critically, Servite wanted an outsourced solution to avoid adding to the burden of its IT team.

Business Challenge

Servite Houses commitment to providing good-quality homes and care for people who are in need ensures they are consistently judged among the best housing trusts in the UK. However, they found themselves to be operating an in-effective static HTML intranet, which as a result of the IT skills required for updating, was frequently outdated. A series of unmanaged public folders set up to remedy the problem only seemed to compound them as limited admission to certain files made access exclusive, and therefore frustrating for staff.

Our Solution

Content and Code earned the opportunity to work with Servite over two other vendors, Goss Interactive and Red Dot, after neither could effectively tailor a solution to Servite's unique requirements.

Thanks to Microsoft Content Management Server, Content and Code could offer Servite exactly what they wanted with a system that could integrate into their existing Microsoft technology infrastructure.

As the volume of content to be included on the new intranet was significant, Content and Code recommended advanced search functionality from Microsoft Sharepoint Portal (SPS) allowing fast and easy access to content on the intranet as well as from other online sources.

To complete the Servite requirements Content and Code customised an Outsourced CSM built with Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 to ensure their IT team was not burdened with any additional issues.
