The Children's Society

For over 100 years the Children's Society has advocated for the interests of children in the UK and worked to provide the services and support to those children most in need. The Children's Society operates a number of offices throughout the UK and partners with volunteers across the country.

Business Challenge

Since 2000, The Children's Society has been re-focusing its efforts to make better use of its expertise and better meet the changing needs of those children most in need. Internally this meant significant organisational change. How could the details of such change be communicated most efficiently across multiple offices? How could staff stay up-to-date on the specific changes as they were approved and implemented? How could the Children's Society encourage and benefit from internal discussion and debate surrounding
such change?

Our Solution

Using Microsoft's powerful Content Management Server, Content and Code delivered a customised, robust and flexible intranet to be hosted in-house that would modernise communication and information sharing throughout The Children's Society's nationwide organisation. The intranet allows staff throughout the Society to publish and share content easily through simple web based authoring tools and the ability to publish directly from Microsoft Word. As a result, up-to-the-minute information about organisational change is available to all staff and transparency and accountability throughout the organisation have been dramatically increased.

Moreover, Content and Code provided training so that the Society would have the skills and expertise to manage the intranet and the technical infrastructure needed to support it. As the Children's Society continues its evolution to a more focused and effective organisation, the intranet continues to play a central role in explaining and implementing that evolution.
