Earlier this year Content and Code attended the Legal Technology Forum to listen to and understand the challenges that Legal Firms face around Social Media in the workplace, the multiple platforms that IT Directors & CIO’s find themselves under pressure to allow, largely being IPad, as well as the topic of SharePoint for collaboration, DMS and Knowledge Management.
What is evident is that the majority of, if not all Legal firms are touched by some of the above topics and are some way down the road in the review and deployment of new technologies, new ideas and new ways of collaborating across multi regional offices. In line with this is the topic of user adoption. Trying to encourage Lawyers to adopt a new technology platform is a challenge in itself and getting the approach right the first time round is critical to avoiding an expensive failure.
At the Strategic Technology Forum one name kept popping up over and over. It was the name of a leading Retail company that are truly seen as innovators in technology. This retail company have a knowledge management solution rolled out across 40,000 users and 6 continents build on the SharePoint platform where they make use of social media and are extending their solution to IPad. In addition the adoption of the platform has been a huge success and is allowing this business to take advantage and remove challenges it has encountered historically.
