What was the challenge?
Vodafone is one of the world’s largest mobile communications companies by revenue with approximately 343 million controlled and jointly controlled customers as at 30 September 2010. Vodafone currently has equity interests in over 30 countries across five continents and over 40 partner networks worldwide.
Vodafone seeks to outperform their competition in each of these markets. Their customers’ are increasingly demanding access to internet services wherever they are, and as networks become faster, a key revenue stream for Vodafone is Mobile Broadband, particularly in those countries where fixed infrastructure is not as prevalent and is the primary route for people to access the internet. To accelerate product and knowledge roll-out across its footprint, Vodafone needed an easy-to-use collaboration system based on SharePoint that would enable the Mobile Broadband (MBB) Team, part of Vodafone Business Services (VBS), to be faster and more pro-active in its efforts to increase collaboration amongst its global (30 plus) markets and 40 partner networks around the world – and get MBB products to market faster than the competition.
What was our solution?
We delivered a fully branded, intuitive SharePoint intranet site that works with a wide variety of browsers. The site serves as a central repository for documentation of all MBB product and marketing knowledge and makes it easier for the team to find the information they need.
New ‘smart search’ functionality searches all MBB site content and enables individuals to simply find relevant best practice, market research and product information. So, for example, if a case study exists that outlines a viable approach for delivering bundled mobile broadband and fixed line ADSL into market, it can be easily found and accessed by relevant Vodafone or Partner Market employees no matter where they’re based.

The new collaboration intranet site ensures that documents and knowledge are controlled within the system and allows Vodafone’s markets to be more innovative, introduce products faster and differentiate themselves from their competitors’.
