David Bowman - Professional Services Director

Key responsibilities

  • Overseeing and managing the work of the Retail and Finance Team
  • Working with clients like Tesco and Old Mutual to deliver high-quality IT solutions that meet business goals
  • Mentoring and coaching team members and conducting regular performance reviews

What’s your background?

“From the age of 17, I worked as IT manager for a small events company before taking on the role of web development manager for IPC Media.  I spent seven years at IPC, where I helped deliver business-to-business websites, before leaving to join the advertising agency Dare Digital as a technological architect.

After two years at Dare, I became Content and Code’s first managerial hire. And, in 2008, I was appointed to my current role as Professional Services Director.”

What’s been your biggest achievement at Content and Code?

“I really enjoyed the Tesco project. Those guys have extremely high expectations when they work with a third party. Being able to deliver on that is very rewarding. Because they are such a large organisation, the impact we can have is massive.

On a personal note, I’ve just loved being part of the growth of the company. I was the 35th person to join and we’re already touching 100. It’s great to be part of a management team that has seen so many of its aspirations come to fruition.”

What have you been working on lately?

“As well as working across nearly all of our client projects behind the scenes, I’ve been refining our delivery process to streamline projects and provide low risk, high adoption strategies for our clients.  This involves incorporating all the successful concepts and capturing the bumps in the road along the way to create a great journey.

I’m also the line manager to most of our delivery team and I find that close-quarters engagement with our staff provides great insight into the business and where we can develop.”

What do Content and Code offer that’s unique?

“We never get bogged down in the technicalities of a project. First and foremost are the client’s goals. We have been trained to see those goals as paramount. And the feedback we get confirms how successful we are at this.”

How would you describe Content and Code’s culture

“The company is transparent, open and flexible. As long as you are adding value to the business and helping meet our clients’ goals you will go far."
